Position Summary:
As a member of the Construction Department Team this individual will be responsible for managing restaurant construction projects ranging from $300,000 to$1,500,000 per site with an emphasis in restaurant renovation and new restaurant building construction projects. Restaurant construction projects will consist of freestanding drive thru restaurant facilities, End Cap drive thru facilities, and restaurant conversions.
Duties & Essential Job Function:
•Individual must be able to assist with due diligence, conceptually estimate, negotiate trade contracts, schedule, hard bid, and close out a wide range of restaurant projects.
•Participate in development and reconciliation of capital estimates.
•Drive a strong safety focus both in the design of the facility and the execution of the field construction
•Foster positive and effective business relationships at all levels and project phases
•Assure construction administration process is developed and executed in the best interest of Del Taco LLC.
•Manage project expenditures and job cost accounting processes including accuracy, documentation, approvals, payment reporting, and tracking.
•Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, codes.
•Obtains bids from vendors and subcontractors, identify qualified General contractors and subcontractors, and negotiate pricing.
•Responsible for the development of the project schedule and schedule updates.
•Perform regular site visits to ongoing construction projects
•Review any and all change orders during construction process
•Meet with Operations team to perform turnover activities including all punch list responsibility
•Assure that restaurant property has all necessary approvals to open for business
•Perform project close out including final paperwork, job walk through and any other follow up items with restaurant operations, construction administrator, and Sr. Director of design and construction.
Qualifications
Required Experience & Skills:
•5+ years experience with large facilities in the restaurant & retail industry
•Project management experience with new and renovation type construction
•Proven experience as "Owners Representative" and possess a complete understanding of both General Contractor's and Owner's roles and responsibilities
•Must be able to work with minimal supervision and plan, develop, coordinate & manage multiple projects simultaneously
•Proficient computer skills with MS Office Suite (including but not limited to Word, Excel, Powerpoint, & Outlook)
•Strong customer skills
•Strong verbal & written communication and organizational skills with attention to detail and follow up
•Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks as well as work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
•Self starter and able to adapt and interact professionally with all levels of the organization
•Ability to travel 2-3 days/wk
Education Required:
•Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or closely related field of study.

The Design Drafter Position is a hands-on role that is responsible for assisting the design function on multiple projects simultaneously to be built in the U.S. This role will include all aspects of drafting design: This role will be responsible for assisting the team oversight in the production of creative and innovative design, specifications, budget control, CAD drawings, production of food service drawings, and enforcement of design and drawing standards. This role will interface closely with the construction / development teams, equipment purchasing, operations, franchisees and operations managers.
Position Responsibilities:•
•Manage multiple design projects simultaneously for both new construction and remodeling of existing restaurants
•Conduct on site surveys and create "as built" drawings that will be used in the preparation of construction documents.
•Guide both internal and external design consultants from conceptual design, thru permitting and release for construction.
•Work closely with the Design services Project Manager, construction managers to assure job questions are answered quickly, the design is delivered as intended and within the approved budget.
•Review and coordinate with prototype architects any required revisions to the construction documents.
•Be part of a team constantly researching new and innovative design and construction techniques for future development.
•Participate in design review presentations to gain approval to proceed with design.
•Assist franchise community with initial layouts, elevation drawings, floor plans.
•Meet with members from cross functional internal teams to assist in creating needed design/drafting material
•Monitor and control all related expenses to ensure that design projects are within the budget and meets the projected return on investment
Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or Building Construction Science coupled with 5-10 years of relevant restaurant design experience within an interior and/or architectural design firm or corporate restaurant or hospitality office.
Minimum Requirements:
•5-10 years of AutoCAD drafting experience related to restaurant architectural drawings
•Proficient in Adobe Photoshop
•Minimum of 2-3 years of people management experience --- given experience in a successful multi-concept environment, highly desired
•Works well in team environment.
•Excellent communication and organizational skills
•Demonstrated ability to interact and influence key stakeholders and/or decision makers, i.e., exhibit a team presentation to the CBO and Sr. Director of Design/Construction
•Demonstrated ability to lead teams in achieving or beating challenging goals.
•Deadline oriented and flexible during peak work flow periods.
•Strong desire for accuracy and a high attention to details.
•Overall knowledge of architectural/interior design practices and procedures, including understanding of construction practices, interior finishes and furnishing for restaurant and/or hospitality industry.
•Educated understanding of theories in color, spatial and human factors within the restaurant and/or hospitality industry.
Preferred Requirements:
•Experience in décor/artwork placement and color selection
•Ability to visualize interior/exterior spaces and elements. Skills in rendering and sketching to communicate ideas are also preferred
•Proficient in Google Sketch-up.
•Experience with Green initiatives, progressive building practices and products.
•Relevant development design and development experience within the restaurant and/or hospitality industry
